The Bastille Fort

The Bastille is a military fort built in the 19th century on the hill that gave it its name. Overlooking the city of Grenoble, it takes 7 minutes to reach it on the famous Grenoble Cable Car.

It is the most-visited tourist site in the Grenoble area. Museums, high ropes, escape game, via ferrata, and a range of dining options and function rooms all contribute to making the Bastille a unique, lively site all year round.

Offering an outstanding view of the city and mountains, the Bastille is also a classified natural area of ecological, flora and fauna interest (ZNIEFF) on account of its Mediterranean-type vegetation and diverse range of fauna.
