Hop aboard the “bubbles”
Hop into the famous “Bubbles,” these iconic cabins that take you in just a few minutes from Grenoble city-center to the Fort de la Bastille. This 19th-century military fortification is now a major tourist site in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
The Grenoble Cable Car is one of the first urban cable cars in the world, following those in Rio de Janeiro and Cape Town. Inaugurated in September 1934, it celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2024, symbolizing an exceptional heritage at the heart of the city.
La Bastille is way more than a tourist attraction. It’s a mountain at the gateway to the city, offering an exceptional 360° panorama of the Grenoble area and surrounding mountains.

Each year, around 370,000 passengers are transported by cable car, but nearly 750,000 visitors explore the hill annually, thanks to the variety of activities and the site’s appeal.
Nature and adventure lovers will feel right at home. Enjoy the hiking trails, long-distance routes, trail running paths, or the Via Ferrata to discover this stunning location, perfect for both family outings and sports training.
