Environmental roadmap adopted for the operation of the cable car, the Fort de la Bastille and the organization of eco-responsible events.

The Grenoble cable car's eco-commitments

  • A 100% repairable device:
    • Maintenance, renovation, and restoration of various components on-site, locally, or internally.
    • Maximal preservation of original parts and restoration of cabins since 1976.
  • Recycling:
    • Recycling of grease, oils and cleaning products.
    • Storage on retention tanks and transport to waste disposal centers.
  • Manual polishing of the cabins to limit the use of acids.
  • Eco-driving by operators:
    • Stop when there are no passengers.
    • Reduced speed during low traffic.
  • Cable car transport offered to personnel working at the fort to reduce carbon impact.

 

Our commitments for 2025:

  • Guarantee of 100% green energy for operations.
  • Strengthening the cable car as a means of decarbonized mobility.
  • Highlighting its historical heritage as the 3rd oldest urban cable car in Europe.

The Eco-commitments of the Bastille Fort

  • Preserved biodiversity:
    • Regular inventories of fauna and flora.
    • Controlled mowing and grass cutting with eco-grazing practices.
  • Waste management:
    • Selective waste sorting throughout the whole site.
    • Educational ashtrays.
    • Two composting points for restaurant owners.
    • Regular waste collection operations.

 

Our commitments for 2025:

  • Recovery of rainwater to supply public toilets.
  • Development of trails to separate pedestrian and mountain bike circuits.
  • Installation of sorting bins along the trails.
  • Closure of the access road for the general public.
  • Dismantling of obsolete installations in the dry meadow.

  • Reduction of carbon impact:
    • Limited access to motorized vehicles.
    • Room rentals with mandatory cable car transport.
    • Activities only accessible only with a cable-car ticket.
    • Extended opening hours to avoid motorized traffic.
  • Choice of committed service providers:
    • Use of local products and short distribution channels.
    • Optimized waste management and noise reduction.
  • Elimination of disposable tableware:
    • Use of eco-cups and rental of reusable tableware.

 

Our commitments for 2030:

  • Recovery of rainwater to supply toilets in reception halls.
  • Development of renewable energy for ecological space heating.
