Awarded by the European Commission, the city of Grenoble received the title of European Green Capital 2022 on October 8, 2020 thanks to the transversal and pioneering nature of its actions in favor of ecological transition.

This title rewards the long-term commitments of the entire Grenoble metropolitan area in terms of sustainable development and the 12 selection indicators. The city was ranked 1st or 2nd for 11 of them!

It is in the “base camp” represented by the totem place of the Bastille, that the partners of the European Green Capital year met on Monday, October 18, 2021.

  • More than 200 events are already on the calendar around the challenges of transitions, then the Green Capital year will be broken down into 12 themes (climate, air, energy, inequalities, water, health, mobility, etc.) and 54 challenges.

The inhabitants of the metropolis can get involved by proposing challenges or events to be included in the calendar, by having them labeled European Green Capital. A “Green Boost” fund of 400,000 euros for associations was created for the occasion.
